UK confirms Trader Support Service transition for Northern Ireland movements
On 22 October 2026, HM Revenue & Customs clarified the transition to the replacement Trader Support Service: new movements from 20 October use the new service, while movements begun earlier can remain in the outgoing service until its closure on 30 November 2026.

Separate new and existing movements
HMRC says businesses registered with the outgoing service have been migrated and do not need to register again. Declarations already in progress there can continue to completion. The distinction is between movement cohorts, not simply the date on which a user signs in. Groups should identify which declarations remain in the outgoing service and coordinate their handling with representatives before closure.[1][3]
The replacement service is free and supports customs and safety and security declarations for movements between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It also supports duty payments, company details, customs authorisations, representatives and account-user permissions. Businesses declaring for themselves or others, and businesses physically moving goods such as hauliers, can use it.[2]
Registration and account access
New registrants moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland need an EORI number. HMRC lists personal and business information; a VAT registration number is optional. Relevant authorisation and duty-deferment details can also be supplied where held. Additional users of an already registered business need an invitation from its account administrator, rather than a duplicate business registration.[2][3]
This is an administrative filing-route transition, not a change to customs rates or a new general return-payment deadline. Confirm the relevant movement, migrated account and representative permissions before relying on a route. The 30 November closure concerns the outgoing service; it should not be treated as the statutory due date for every declaration or duty payment.[1][2][3]
